Network Traders – Privacy Policy

This privacy policy was last modified on September 10th, 2022.

Network Traders is a mobile game which I develop in my spare time as a hobby, but which I also monetize. Therefore it is important to me that you, as a user of my app, are informed about what of your data is collected, stored, and processed.

Storage and Processing of Game Data

Network Traders is based on the interaction for players. In order to enable this, data which is necessary for the game (game data) is stored and processed on a central server (game server). I am committed to handling the data which is collected for the purpose of the game as sparingly as possible. No personally identifiable information (PII) is stored or processed by me, although some data may allow backtracing to a certain degree. These are the following:

  • Date and time of first and last login.
  • Name of the city of the player, which is not unique.
  • Unique, but anonymous ID of the player.
  • Location (= other player’s ID) of a player’s merchants as well as their route (= IDs of players visited) to this player.
  • Last date and time of trading for each merchant.

No data such as names, email addresses, IP addresses or location data of the players is stored. For statistical purposes, location data derived from IP addresses may be anonymized, aggregated, and used.

Permissions

As a special permission, Network Traders requires the precise location of your device. This is because in order to find other players in your vicinity with whom you can trade Bluetooth is used. The Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology, which is user for this, is also employed by so-called “Beacons”, i.e., devices which broadcast their location with it. However, this (relative) location data is not transmitted to the central game server or other devices. It stays on your device.

Apart from that, Network Traders also uses the internet connection to send game data to the game server. General permissions for Bluetooth are required for the use of BLE.

Sharing of Information

Your game data will not be shared with any third party. I may use summarized (aggregated) data of all players of Network Traders in articles of my blog.

Regarding the sharing of information which is collected by Unity, please read the following section as well as the privacy policy of Unity.

Data Collection by Unity

Network Traders was developed using Unity and uses Unity Ads for showing advertisements. Additional data, which goes beyond what Network Traders collects, is transferred to Unity Technologies, 30 3rd Street, San Francisco, CA 94103. These data include unique device identifiers (e.g., IDFV for iOS devices and Android ID for Android devices), IP address, country of install, information about the device manufacturer, model platform type, unique advertising identifiers provided for iOS and Android devices (e.g., IDFA or Android Ad ID) and so on. For a detailed list of these data and how to erase it please have a look at the privacy policy of Unity.

When the first ads are shown within the game you will also be informed about how you can restrict the collection of your data and how you can access the data which is stored about you.

Your Rights

Regarding game data, you have the rights stated in chapter 3 of the GDPR. In particular, you may request information about the storage of personally identifyable information as well es their erasure. If you want to make use of these rights please send an email to the address noted above.

Regarding rectification and restriction of processing I want to point out that this is not sensible for required game data. This would be equal to the erasure of your data.
